Smoother and better than the Pro 4, though more wear after 15 miles.

“AP4 have less wear at 100 miles but AP5 feel much better and much smoother IMO”

12 miles out of the box: very light and bouncy, slightly firmer than the Pro 4, just as fast and fun.

“They are incredibly light weight. Foam is a little firmer than the AP4 unfortunately, but it is still a great ride.”

50 km: bouncy with a perfect firmness balance and stable rocker, but the low-volume upper ripped.

“I think it strikes the perfect balance, as I found the 4 slightly too soft. The increased firmness seems to have made the shoe more stable as well.”

Half marathon PB: true to size, roomier toe box, smoother rocker and much more stable than the Pro 4.

“I ran a 24-second half marathon PB today compared with a race in the Pro 4 a couple of months ago”

Narrow even half a size up, flared their posterior tibialis, and lacks snap.

“My first impressions were not that great. Even after going up half a size, the upper feels noticeably slimmed down and squeezed my feet”

Even better than the Pro 4 for this heel striker.

“Had no problems with the AP4 as a heel striker. I think the AP5 is even better.”

After a half at sub-3 marathon pace: a firmer, more stable Evo SL with a world-class upper.

“They are an excellent shoe if you strike midfoot”

Didn't feel fast at first but proved very comfortable at parkrun pace; a good half-to-marathon shoe if durability holds.

“Ended up doing 4.15 and wasn’t remotely cooked. In fact..very comfortable.”

A great 18-mile run for a 190 lb runner.

“I ran in them today for an 18mi and had a great experience.”
positive

First 20 km: bouncy, cushioned and fairly stable, true to size for a wide forefoot.

“Step in comfort quite nice - immediately noticing a very bouncy and cushioned midsole foam.”

Ran Berlin Marathon in it: no sole damage, but heel padding rubbed with thin socks, an arch blister, and firmer, less aggressive foam than the Pro 4.

“Bought the AP5 at the Berlin Expo and ran Berlin last week with the AP5. Ran a 4h 2m with it.”

Comfortable with good lockdown and durability, but low energy return; feels more like a super trainer than a racer.

“I found the AP5 underwhelming compared to other race day options available on the market. This feels like a jack of all trades but master of none.”

Little foam wear, but not aggressive, and the narrower toe box numbed their pinky toe; the Pro 4 held pace easier.

“Very minimal (if any) wear on the unprotected foam but they just did not feel aggressive. I also found the toe box to be a bit narrower than the 4”

10K at 4:06/km: far more forefoot cushion and comfort than the Pro 4 with no sole wear, though their heart rate ran higher at the same pace.

“This shoe is radically different from the 4. There is a lot more cushion under the forefoot. When I first started my run, I was amazed at how much more comfortable it was.”

70 km in with Shoe Goo added and holding up well.

“I put shoegoo on mine, have got 70k now on them and holding up really well.”
positive

Comfortable and well tuned for a marathon, but good not great, with real durability concerns.

“In short they’re good, not great, and the durability concerns are very real.”
